As a reminder, the MIS offices will not be open Monday, September 1st, in observance of Labor Day. If you'll be on the roads, drive safe! Good-bye, Summer...

Make sure you wave and scream the next time you see Paddy toolin' around in the MIS Jeep. He can frequently be seen on Route 1, headed south to do another DSL install.

It's month number two of our expanded customer referral program. When you refer a new customer to MIS, not only do you get a $20 credit on your bill, but you also are entered into a drawing for a cool prize. This month, Royce Cokins of Reliable Computers and Consulting donated a copy of Norton Anti Virus 2003, and free attendance to a Beginner's Internet or Email course. Congratulations to Barbara Rehmeyer of Liberty! You've won what MIS considers the best anti-virus software out there--very handy in this time of the blaster worm. On behalf of Midcoast Internet and Reliable Computers and Consulting, congratulations.

Midcoast Internet Solutions of Rockland and Damariscotta has added solar powered web hosting to their roster of services.
A computer designed to draw minimal electricity has been harnessed to a bevy of batteries, and these batteries are recharged through a system of solar panels installed on MIS' data center in Rockland.
"To our knowledge, there is only one other company in the country offering solar powered web hosting, and they're located in Florida," said company spokesperson Bill Batty, Jr. "We've been using solar power to run some of our island location, high speed wireless Internet equipment, so using solar power isn't new to us. When we started to consider offering solar web hosting, we were surprised about the lack of availability. Here in Maine, there are quite a few businesses and individuals who are concerned about our environment, and might be very pleased to know their web service is being powered by the renewable energy of the sun."
For more information about MIS' solar web hosting service, please call Web Hosting manager Jim Thompson at 594-8277 ext. 102, or visit the web at this web page.

It'll be hard for you to miss the next time you drive down Oak Street in Rockland. The office had a new backlit sign installed over the porch. Now, when the staff give out directions and say "You can't miss the place," they mean it!
